Environmental Policy
Here at Herb UK Ltd, we are keen to reduce our impact upon the environment as much as we possibly can. Our environmental policy is explained below:
In line with our organic manufacturing ethos, Herb UK recognise that our commitment to the customer exceeds beyond the cosmetic arena. We accept that, to produce our products, our operations will have an effect on the environment, and that we have a duty to control this aspect too. Due to this realisation Herb UK is committed to complying with all legislative and regulatory statutes governing the impact that we have on the environment. Herb UK will implement our environmental policy within the framework of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for the Cosmetics Industry, Section 5. Progress will be reviewed annually in line with our scheduled GMP audit.
Furthermore, we recognise the value of a programme of continuous improvement built towards reducing our environmental footprint. Herb UK therefore values the creative ideas and suggestions of our employees, customers and suppliers, who are integral to our efforts towards continuous improvement.
Herb UK is also committed to striving to achieve the following:
- Making use of environmentally efficient energy resources (solar energy, low energy lighting, industrially efficient manufacturing procedures).
- Ensuring that our employees are sufficiently equipped (tools and training) to minimise the effect that their activities have on the environment.
- Reducing the environmental impact of our products through all stages of their life cycle (design, manufacturing, packaging & distribution,
and end-customer use & disposal).
This encapsulates:- Management of on-site hazardous raw materials;
- Disposal of effluent in accordance with council regulations;
- Minimisation of manufacturing waste through continuous quality enhancements;
- Conservation of water through closed loop heating systems;
- Packaging using recycled material;
- Replacement of packaging plastics with corn derivatives;
- Recycling of waste packaging material and office waste;
- Motivating the end-user to recycle (packaging symbols).
