Summer is now here! A little early, but who’s complaining!
The Herb UK office has been full of welcome tours. It’s great to have Katharine back from maternity leave and we all congratulate her on her promotion. We’ve also welcomed Samantha Phillips into the purchasing department and said farewell to Olga as she began her maternity leave. We wish Olga the best of luck and look forward to seeing the pictures of her new arrival.
To see all the new faces within Herb UK, why not have a look at the tour on the website www.organiccoloursystems.com
Organic Colour Systems Extra Brights

How to get your hair looking like this using Extra Brights
The pop world’s stars have gone mad for bright colours. Katy Perry has gone a wild blue and Avril Lavigne has gone crazy for different colour strands. If your clients feel inspired to try a brave new look, then check out our new range of Extra Brights in Red, Yellow, Violet and Orange.
These products will benefit the salon and your customers by allowing you to customise colours and enhance your creativity. If anyone has achieved any particularly bold looks on their clients, we would love to see them, so feel free to post them onto our Facebook page.
We tried the colours on the girls in the office and for each person it gave them an individual look.
To capture Hannah’s violet and red tones (in the image above), here’s how we did it:
On a natural base 4 we used a 70:30 mix of 4MH and Extra Bright Violet with 6% Activator. On the pre-lightened section, which was lightened with Naturlite and 9% Activator, we added
Extra Bright Red with 6% Activator in a 1:1 mix.
The Extra Brights are 100% ammonia-free, permanent, oxidative hair colours and with the exception of Violet they contain no PPDs or PTDs. They are not direct dyes or concentrates and contain no base tones. The Extra Brights are pure colour. As such they need to be mixed with an activator and processed like the colours in the Organic Colour Systems range.
Don’t forget to look in the updated Salon Manual for further details on the Extra Brights.

New Styling Products for 2011
Have you tried the new Styling Products yet? If not, then here’s the low-down on them.
The all new Crème and Gel are now part of the Organic Control Systems range which is completely plastic free. The unique formula of naturally-derived ingredients used in Organic Control Systems allows the hair to move, while maintaining its natural look and feel. The result is exceptional curl memory, dynamic curl retention, anti-frizz and lustrous shine.
Wax and Putty have joined the Organic Connect range, as these products contain plastic to ensure a strong enough hold for a more dynamic look. Try them with your male clients, as they are especially good for shorter, spiky styles. Alternatively try mixing the new products with the existing styling range. For example, for a client with wiry, brittle hair, you can mix the new Putty with Gloss Serum to give hair shine - this is great for short or long hair - or how about mixing the Gloss Serum with the new Wax and Crème for a defining look.
For more information on the new styling products please refer to the updated Salon Manual.
