Cloe is our fun loving Global Education Manager of 9 years and she spreads fun everywhere she goes! We all love her here at HQ and if you have met Cloe, you will know why. If you have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Cloe here is a bit more about her…
Tell us more about you Cloe…
I am 34, 5ft 8 inches and a Capricorn. I have been a base 4 brunette for over 10 years. I have a cow’s lick. I can’t plait hair. I hardly ever dry my hair with a hairdryer and I have never ever cut my dad’s hair. I was nominated as ‘The Hyper One’ in our HQ staff awards.
First things first, how did you come across Organic Colour Systems?
In 2008, I started a new job as a Senior Stylist at a salon in the Midlands where they used only Organic Colour Systems. It opened my eyes to the world of natural hairdressing which isn’t something you get taught at college. After working with it for a couple of weeks I couldn’t see why I hadn’t ever thought about going organic before.
How did you become an educator?
I loved the brand and would always spread the word so when the Sales Rep at the time heard that I was moving back down south to my home town, they approached me with the idea of working part time as a Mentor covering the south of England to help others gain knowledge and confidence. I jumped at the idea and look at me now!!
You have been all over the world, what is your favourite place to visit and why?
I love Spain and France due to my family roots however I haven’t seen it all yet! I LOVE travelling so being able to do it with my job is amazing; I am so, so lucky. I do enjoy just being in my home country though, England is beautiful in Spring/Summer and I love the changing hair colours based on the seasons!
What do you love most about being our educator?
I love assisting stylists in taking back control of their colour formulating and seeing their confidence grow with the products which hand in hand builds their business. What more could you want to see as a teacher?
You manage our Mentor team globally. What does it take to become a Mentor?
Clarity, detail, enthusiasm and a good memory! You also have to be a team player and have fun. I consider all of the Mentors my friends as they are so bubbly, full of life and just good fun to be around.
What do you think are the biggest challenges with Organic Colour Systems compared to an ammonia colour?
Time management. We as hairdressers need to forget the excuse of not having enough time and make sure that we organise ourselves to make sure we do. Adding in a treatment before a colour can seem alien but once you see the results, there really is no going back (I’m not getting paid to say that either!) Learning how to mix and create bespoke colours can be a challenge as with ammonia colours you get it straight out of the bottle. I think this element adds the creativity and fun back into hairdressing though. We started our careers to be creative and colourful so why sit in a box, it’s great to step out of your comfort zone especially with clients who are willing too.
What is your favourite thing about working with Organic Colour Systems?
My favourite thing? It is unique. It is unlike anything else on the market. We strive to use organic and natural ingredients first and foremost and that has always been the case from the very beginning. The story has never changed and I trust in that because I know it’s not just marketing jargon or greenwashing. I also love (amongst everything else ;)) that everything is made in house in the UK where HQ feels more like a family than a company.
How has hairdressing changed over the years?
It is no longer a profession where people would presume the stylist didn’t know what they wanted to do at school and ‘fell into it’. It is now the forefront in fashion catwalks, editorial magazines and social media. AWESOME!
Why do you think education is so important?
Because you are only as good as what you know. If you do not know the most up to date, technical & practical information on your product/industry, then how can you use it to its full potential and fulfil your clients’ needs and expectations?

Why did I not hear about this range years ago!
What is the weirdest thing you have seen on your travels?
My OCS colleague’s Dad dancing and falling asleep catching flies with their mouths open on planes!
What do you do to relax after a long day of educating?
Well I might sound boring but I don’t have a husband or kids to look after so I guess it’s just me and the cat ahah! It is either a good fitness session or I like to come home, turn all phones and computers off, have a hot shower and put on my comfy clothes before getting creative in the kitchen.
