Pro Hair Live 2020

Pro Hair Live in Manchester Central was an amazing opportunity to get chatting all things hair and sustainability to industry experts and professionals as well as our OCS family.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is embedded in Organic Colour Systems’ ethos and so we were thrilled to be able to headline the Sustainable Business stage. Our brand ambassador and sustainable salon owner, Karine Jackson took to the stage alongside our Salon Sales Director, Ian Bishop to talk about our efforts to make a positive impact on our industry and the planet.

We spoke about some of our green practices, including…

  • Soon we will be introducing colour bottles and caps made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR). We will be the first professional hair company in the world to do this!
  • We currently use biodegradable chips in our packaging that dissolve in water.
  • We use fully recycled and recyclable boxes for all of our shipments.
  • Paper tape is now being used instead of cellotape in our dispatch department. The adhesive is also a natural gum, which means the complete tape is now recyclable, saving 90 miles of tape a year going into landfill.
  • We offer Thermal Booster Hats as an alternative to electric heated appliances.
  • We offer Eco Towels which are biodegradable and save on electricity and water.

We are really proud of our green credentials, but these aren’t things that we have just started doing. Being green has been at the forefront of our brand since its origin almost 30 years ago. For us, sustainability is key

As Anne Marie Bonneau said: “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly, we need millions of people doing it imperfectly”. If we all make small changes, we can make a massive impact on the environment.

If this sound like an ethos that you would like to adopt in your salon or if you are taking similar steps, we would love to hear from you!
