An Innovation for Salon Safety

Salon safety is paramount. And with reported increases of sensitivity to hair colour since the Covid pandemic, hairdressers around the world are desperately looking for simple skin sensitivity test solutions. But for our fabulous salons, the search is over.

Organic Colour Systems has partnered with UK-based MixEz to bring salons a world-first skin sensitivity test sachet.

“There are a couple of other companies who provide patch tests,” MixEz Director Charlotte Welch says. “But nothing that uses the manufacturer’s own product.”

And this is exactly what caught the attention of Organic Colour Systems’ Co-founder and Managing Director Raoul Perfitt. “Every colour range features its own unique selection of ingredients that anyone could have sensitivities to at any time. This makes testing with a different product to what the hairdresser uses in-salon non-sensical.”

The patented multi-chamber MixEz sachet holds pre-measured quantities of Organic Colour Systems’ colour gel and activator separately. When the test is ready for use, the inner seal is broken and the two liquids are easily mixed within the sachet, ensuring no mess and no premature oxidisation of the product. The sachets can also be easily posted to clients who cannot get into the salon to do their test.

There are two formulations for the new skin sensitivity test sachets: One for levels 1 – 5 and another for levels 6 – 10. They’re both available to order in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and we’re working with other markets to implement them as soon as possible. Watch this space!

How to use it...

Instructions can be found on the sachet, but if, like us, you’re more of a visual person, here is a quick demonstration.

Remember your client must carry out this skin sensitivity test at least 48 hours before their colour appointment. If possible we would advise performing the test in the salon. Alternatively you can post out our brand new skin sensitivity test sachets. Make sure your client signs either their digital or printed card and keep this in your records.
